Macchi C.205 Fuel Gauge
If it was for me, I'd never figured this out. I was convinced that our in-game model of the C.205 didn't have a working fuel gauge, then Merouane showed me where it is (thx for that) and I thought I should make a post about it, because when we look for a fuel gauge in a cockpit, we usually look for something that looks kinda like a clock, with a dial and one or more hands. The 205's fuel gauge instead, looks like this:
OK, so now you know that the weird stick is in fact a fuel gauge. Now let's see how to read it. In the picture below, you can see an arrow pointing at the equivalent of a regular gauge's hand. That sliding thingy is all the way back (close to the pilot) when er have 100% fuel and moves forwards (away from the pilot, close to the dash) as the fuel runs out (IL2 treats the sum of all the fuel tanks as 'one big tank')
The end of the stick is marked with the words in volo and a terra , which are Italian for 'in flight' and 'on the ground', respectively.
That means that the gauge has to be read differently on the ground and in flight.
When on the ground, we have to read the bottom side of the stick (white), and when in flight, we read the top side of it (black).
Remembering the Italian words may be tricky (unless you know by heart that "Terra" must have something to do with "Earth", and therefore "Ground"), so to avoid having to remember weird Latin-ish words you can simply think top = sky, bottom = ground, and read on the upper edge of the stick when in flight and the lower edge when on the ground.
That should do the trick.
